The Lord will use the most unlikely of people to do His work, and I am a prime
example. In college, I studied math and physics in an effort to write fewer papers, and then the Lord tells me to write
a book. My first reaction was, “Are you crazy?” But since I have experienced the consequences of not following
the Lord’s direction (many of which are in these pages), here it is. I do not remember a time when I was not in church or reading the Bible, but the Lord took me through
a series of events that opened my eyes to scriptures I have been reading all my life, but did not understand until I was fifty.
Many Christians are frustrated because all they hear about in church are the blessings of Christ, and wonder why
they are not experiencing them. So often churches only teach about the benefits our Lord offers but not how we are
to take responsibility for the choices we make on a daily basis in order to experience these blessings. Christians
must understand what the Lord expects in order to experience His blessings, even as harsh as some of it may sound. Why God called
me to write this, only He knows. It is my hope that this book may help you come to understand the full picture of God’s
plan as outlined in His Word, the Holy Bible. Then as you make changes in your life, challenge your church leaders and
work to bring about positive change in society.
As
a native Texan, Steve Childers was born in Amarillo but spent most of his time growing up in El Paso, currently residing
in the small, south Texas town of Kingsville with his wife Mary Ann. He has two sons, Allyn and Andrew, along with two
stepdaughters, Mercedes and Bianca. Most of his career was in retail or retail consulting which took him all over the country,
giving him the opportunity to visit many churches. He grew up Protestant and the story of how he became Catholic is
included in the book. However, this is not an attempt to convert anyone from one doctrine to the other, but a serious
look at scripture as put forth in the Holy Bible. Readers may disagree
with the interpretation of scripture in this book, but study what the Word is saying, pray about it and see what the Lord
is telling you.
